The first month of the year, an opportunity to start afresh. A time to be hopeful for endless opportunities that may come your way. 2017 got off to a great start for me – the products I’d purchased on my Seoul trip last December worked their way seamlessly into my daily routine.

Prior to my trip, my friend was raving about The Saem Snail Essential EX Deep Cleansing Foam, having seen transformative results on her boyfriend over the span of one month so naturally I had to check it out for myself.

The creamy product is formulated with highly concentrated golden secretion, effectively removes impurities without overdrying and provides intense moisturization. I did see a significant change with nearly 2 months of use – there’s more clarity in my skin tone and decrease in inflammation.

Rich in snail mucin filtrate extract to provide rich nutrition and moisture, The Saem Snail Soothing Gel is blended with fresh, real organic aloe from Jeju Island to repair damage whilst boosting skin elasticity. Lightweight and highly hydrating, the moisturizer is great for my combination skin type for both day and night wear.

In keeping with a simple yet effective regimen, I use Clarins White Plus Pure Translucency Tri-Intensive Brightening Serum during day; Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair at night.

My favorite purchase of the lot: Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Re-Cover Derma Green-Cure Solution is a color-correcting treatment marketed as a skin care product which can also be utilized as a tinted moisturizer. Note the product is sold under a different name – Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 in the US/Sephora.

The mint-colored product fades into beige, self-adjusting to your skin tone to neutralize redness and blemishes. Its whipped consistency blends easily into the skin, and like your regular foundation, set it with powder and you’re good to head out the door.

It came in handy when I needed to conceal scars from a recent injury.

I only need a smidgen to conceal the redness around my nose, as well as the occasional bumps. Not just for cosmetic purposes, I also applied it as the last step of my day regimen to see if the product could heal broken capillaries- not much results thus far.

Surprisingly moisturizing for a matte formula, Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Seduction is a lightweight, velvety yet heavily pigmented. The product feels comfortable on the lips and only mildly accentuates flaky bits. The downside is its staying power though; it transfers easily and I had to reapply after every meal. Still, color me impressed with such quality for a drugstore brand.

A polished MLBB(My Lips But Better) with a smooth glide and full coverage, I dab(and blend out) CLIO Glow Tint in Killheel Red concentrated at the centre, then apply Seduction at the edges.

Another MLBB favorite is a collaboration between 3CE and Lily Maymac, a popular Australian instagrammer: together they created 3 MLBB shades which aren’t unique. The rose-gold packaging is gorgeous which attracted my attention at the Stylenanda store but, ugh, makes a fingerprint magnet thus keeping in its box to avoid incurring scratches while on-the-go.

I picked up Holy Rose from the 3CE X Lily Maymac Rose Gold Matte Lips Collection, a blue-toned rose shade that adds vibrancy to my fair skin tone. Unlike Revlon, the matte formula is patchy, dry and difficult to apply. I have tried several lip balms but only Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant works as the best primer. Another way to apply is to dab and blend with my ring finger to achieve the desired coverage.
