In this time of age, modern women look to multi-tasking products to simplify her beauty regimen. Here’s a comparison of 2 cleansers that function similarly but one comes with a hefty price tag (with numerous accolades) while the other is pocket-friendly.

Having tried Eve Lom‘s for a couple of weeks, I can see why it has been dubbed as “probably the best cleanser in the world” by Vogue. Although I wouldn’t go so far to stamp my ultimate approval as yet, but it certainly is a luxury product to use.

The oil-based Eve Lom Cleanser is a blend of 4 aromatic plant oils that smells medicinal but dissipates quickly. It dissolves even the most stubborn makeup, eg. Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation; Maybelline Color Tattoos Eyeshadows etc.

Unlike the usual working of cleansing oils, it’s not necessary to use another cleanser. I normally scoop an appropriate amount and warm up between my palms, then massage the melted product onto the skin to dissolve makeup and surface dirt.

Besides leaving the skin velvety smooth and moisturized, the cleansing regime itself is a sensorial experience albeit time-consuming. Even on nights where a quick(yet thorough) cleanse is preferred, I would massage the product on skin for a good 5 minutes before rinse. [ 7-Step Lymphatic Drainage Massage ]

In contrast, Soap & Glory‘s Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser utilizes essential oils (natural sweet almond, citrus and lavender). The tube dispenses a lotion texture that thins out after warming it between my palms. Similarly, I don’t see the necessity to reach for another cleanser or that it needs a pre-cleanse.

As per instructed, I would massage it on the face for a full 60 seconds before rinse. The product contains panthenol that’s frequently used to replenish moisture after cleansing, and supposedly gives a plumping effect.

While both cleansers have their own merits with similar functions, I can’t say the same for their respective muslin cloths. Eve Lom‘s feels soft on the skin but can also be used for gentle exfoliating. The fabric also feels durable unlike Soap & Glory‘s – the latter uses a thin material, like a handkerchief, and it’s good for use only a handful of times. Like they say, you get what you pay for.
