To be blind is bad, but worse is to have eyes but not see…

Despite being absurdly busy, I still find time to catch up with family and friends. Every Sunday, Mum & I always make a point to have breakfast together. As a belated birthday meal, we decided to settle for Dim Sum at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe. To our amusement, we realized our order consisted mostly shrimp dishes when the food arrived. Fortunately the establishment was generous with their stuffing which made up for the hindsight.

After whetting my appetite for weeks fielding endless questions to friends who have tried Mexican food, I finally headed down to Baja Fresh @ Hotel Rendezvous! It was rathery underwhelming as I’m not into spicy, sour condiments. The shrimps were grilled to perfection though, and the Pinto Beans emerged as a palate consolation…

Later in the evening, the friend and I decided to head over to Ya Kun @ Orchard Central for dinner. We each ordered a set of the same stuff – the biggest serving of soft-boiled eggs I’ve ever seen; coffee/tea and 4×2 slices of toasted bread generously spread with kaya and butter. I had the same order just this morning with Mum at a difference outlet, and the fillings were uber stingy!

To round up our Saturday, we made our way, 5 levels down, to the popular ice-cream parlor Cold Stone Creamery. The Cake Batter is a tad too sweet, so I suggest this be shared to avoid sugar comatose.

On a personal front, I marathon-ed the entire season 1 of Grimm and aired episodes of the 2nd one after deferring the NBC supernatural drama for a long time. Silas Weir Mitchell was the main draw, having been tickled by his portrayal as “Haywire” in FOX’s Prison Break. His performance as a reformed Blutbat has gained immense support from the online community, demanding more screen time of their favorite Big Bad Wolf.
After the conclusion of K-drama A Gentleman’s Dignity last August, I finally started on a new(ongoing) series The 3rd Hospital starring one of my favorite method actor, Kim Seung Woo. If you enjoy watching Greys Anatomy, you are in for a heavy medically-oriented treat that will make one very queasy in the operating theater.
Set in a newly-established hospital, the series surrounds 2 main doctors/half-brothers, Kim and Oh Ji Ho(Super Rookie) who specialize in Western and Eastern medicine respectively. Kim plays a highly-skilled neurosurgeon(step aside, Derek Shepard!) with a blunt attitude towards his subordinates, a no-nonsense character. Oh, on the other hand, has a tragic past who brings a relatable personality to the table.

With all that going on, I seriously have no idea when time permits me to start on J.K. Rowling‘s adult novel. “The Casual Vacancy” has been dubbed “possibly the most depressing book you’ll read this year. Or have read in several years.”
Have you read it yet? What’s your verdict?

Your dog is adorable!
Looks like Baja Fresh is different than in the states. They use white whole chicken here.
Oh wow, I didn’t know we have Baja Fresh in Singapore. The shrimps look delicious!!
Oh Ji Ho!<3 I haven't watched that drama, but it looks good. How many episodes does this drama have hon? Your shrimp fajita looks yummy. I'm not a big fan of Cold Stone for some reason, I don't like how they "beat up" my ice cream, lol.
12 out of 20 episodes have been aired so far.
I think the shrimps are the only thing I like, out of the whole meal. Pinto Beans came in second lol!
Cold Stone’s too creamy! There’s a Japanese franchise that I like but they have since pulled out =(
