Exfoliation, an important step in one’s skincare regimen, allows your freshest, most radiant self to shine through by sloughing off surface layer of dead skin cells. With that taken care of, skincare products can penetrate faster with optimal results.
Microdermabrasion is a more efficient liberation from acne scars, decreases appearance of scarring, wrinkles and, stimulates collagen production. Traditionally used as a medical procedure, Philosophy introduces a home-based equivalent that takes less than 10 minutes each time, and it’s less expensive.

The Microdelivery Peel – S$109
This at-home kit is a 2-step system constituting of a jar of Vitamin C/Peptides Resurfacing Crystals and a bottle of Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activating Gel – lasts 12 sessions.

Step 1 – Vitamin C/Peptides Resurfacing Crystals
Apply a teaspoon amount on cleansed, dry skin where a mild warming sensation can be felt. Gently massage in a circulation motion for a minute or two. The zesty-smelling scrub deeply exfoliates with its granules gentle enough without irritating the skin. If you’re experiencing irritated skin, simply spread the product and proceed to the next step.

Using the same amount of the colorless liquid-gel, massage it onto the crystals and you’ll feel the same warm sensation. White foam, indicating activation, starts to form. Leave on for 2-5 minutes to allow Vitamin C and Peptides to penetrate into the skin – brightens, revitalizes(peptides transport oxygen into skin tissues), and stimulates collagen production.
Ideal for all skin types, the downside of the product is that it heightens skin’s sensitivity to the sun. The activating gel contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid(AHA), hence applying sunscreen is a must to minimize the risk of sunburn.

After each usage, the texture of my skin feels incredulously smooth like a boiled egg. It’s difficult to show it on camera hence the 2 cooked eggs in the illustration, ha! The overall clarity of my skin has improved although the brightening effect only lasted a few days and skin tone is slightly evened out. I couldn’t see any difference in the reduction of my pores.
Philosophy products are available at Sephora across 5 locations in Singapore – ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Vivocity, Bugis+ & Marina Bay Sands.
