A cult classic endorsed by Oprah Winfrey and has appeared in her “Oprah’s Favorite Things List” for a record of 6 times, this original formula comes in a unique souffle texture that hydrates and revives youthful skin.

Philosophy Hope In A Jar // Original Formula – S$59
KEY INGREDIENTS
※ Beta Glucan – this naturally occurring compound stimulates collagen formation and enhances skin immunology, and is often used for its moisturizing and smoothing effect on the skin and promotes anti-aging.
※ Lactic Acid – a form of AHA that by gently exfoliates skin’s surface and improves cell turnover, and can directly inhibit melanin formation.
※ Retinyl Palmitate – said to be a primary antioxidant found naturally in the skin and offers sun protection all by itself.

Its whipped texture is a delight on the skin until the air-sensitive ingredients begin to disintegrate within a week after my first use. The product takes away a point the moment liquid starts dripping as I unscrew the jar. I’d witnessed it firsthand in-store at Sephora and other users had also reported the same thing, so this is not an isolated problem.

Application has also proved to be quite the challenge. The product doesn’t spread uniformly as it begins to separate and becomes an issue with makeup. The moisturizer takes a long time to adhere onto the skin, and let’s face it, who has the time to sit around for 10-20 minutes, especially with Singapore’s humidity. While it’s not a problem on days when I’m home-bound, other times my liquid foundation would start getting patchy and screamed to be removed.
The Oprah-endorsed Hope In A Jar does have its merits – the now-watery consistency renders the skin velvety smooth, like baby skin, and gives an almost soft-focus glow. The oil-control is rather impressive, requiring me to blot every 2-3 hours on a typical hot day. For best results, use in conjunction with The Microdelivery Peel.

Hope In A Jar is also available in 2 other varying consistencies – an extra-rich version for dry skin, and an oil-free type exclusive for the Asian market (Singapore and Taiwan).

Philosophy products are available at Sephora at 5 locations in Singapore – ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Vivocity, Bugis+ & Marina Bay Sands.

Hmm, not sure whether I could sit around waiting that long for it to absorb. Haha. But the hype has me interested.
It was the hype that got me disappointed…
This was disappointing! Apart from the oil control and the soft skin, the texture is gross! I actually thought it was spoiled when the thing started dripping water so I threw it out
