Still in experimental mode following my Jewel-Toned Half-Moon Manicure entry, this week ensues the ‘Gilded Fade‘ trend inspired by Estée Lauder and Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere.
Instead of using the exact same colors, I decided to go for hues that would look flattering for my skin tone. Despite spending the weekend browsing around for inspiration, the shades I’d purchased and the planned pairings ultimately failed to impress me.

Partially inspired by the new potted cactus in our growing ‘Garden of Eden‘, Phazers on Stunning makes the perfect base – a yellow-green duochrome that shifts to red-brown at different angles. GR605 is a shimmery jade that requires several layers to achieve opacity, making it a great contender for a feat like this.

BASE: Misa Nail Lacquer in Phazers on Stunning – 2 layers
Doesn’t it remind you of Chanel’s Peridot and the many dupes on the market?

Gilded Fade: Nature Republic Color Deco Nail in GR605 – 2nd layer

In hindsight, I went slightly with a heavier hand, while trying to document the process. The above illustration was done the night before, sort of a trial run, but the eventual outcome leaned close to what I’d initially envisioned.

This is an easy way to spruce up your nails whilst looking sophisticated, even for someone who have uncoordinated hands. Would you try the ‘Gilded Fade’ trend too?

I like your take on it and the chosen colors are pretty!
Thank You :)
