My birthdays seem doomed to be mundane but instead of wallowing in self-pity, I like to indulge in some sensible retail therapy. Hey, treats paid out of one’s own wallet are also considered birthday presents so things ain’t so bad.

I have been obsessed over face powders lately and coincidentally, both products fulfill Diorskin‘s vision for their Nude Makeup Collection to accentuate natural beauty with flawless, radiant-looking skin.

Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder
Purchased on the very first of September, I’d considered this an extremely early birthday treat. At the rate of mileage it has been receiving thus far, I worry that it might hit pan within a year and this is limited edition! Σ(゚д゚|||)

My glowing skin has been receiving compliments every time I use this powder, a blend of pearl particles which captures light and gives a dewy radiance.

Application-wise, I use the Sigma F25 Tapered Face Brush [ Product Write-Up ] which deposits just the desired amount on the concentrated areas – highlight along a C-shape on top of cheekbones and sweep upwards to top of the brows, along bridge of the nose for definition and on the cupid’s bow.

Comparing with another gold highlighter, ZA Cheeks Groovy in June Bride isn’t as finely-milled, and accentuates dry skin.

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Matte Bronzer
Purchased in the wee hours of the morning on the actual day – this has been on my must-have list for the longest time and I got it via Strawberry.Net given that the product isn’t available at local counters. The website offers an impressive delivery service as I received my order in 5 days.

As you can see from the Mickey Mousecomparisons above, the huge compact and product quality makes it value for money.

Comes with a short brush with soft bristles fit for contouring, but I prefer to use one with a longer handle.

The buttery-soft powder is decently pigmented, and glides onto the skin smooth. It looks very natural too, neither orange nor muddy. However the bronzer is not a true matte formula – it contains subtle hints of shimmer that results in a nice sun-kissed glow.
