Founded in 1711 by Queen Anne, Royal Ascot is a 5-day annual event held every June that gathers. This British tradition takes place at Berkshire, one of the most popular race meetings around the world, with an attendance of 300,000. The main draw is the Royal Procession participated by Her Majesty and members of the British Royal Family.
A dress code is strictly enforced for the historic meet; dresses must fall no shorter than just above the knee, spaghetti straps are prohibited and fascinators as headpieces need to have a base of at least four inches. Men are required to don a black or grey morning dress with a waistcoat and tie.

Those who failed to comply are either turned away, or ordered to cover up. Socialites and celebrities who must also adhere to the strict rules, weren’t deterred from turning up in their finest, elegant outfits topped by stunning hats.

If going to races isn’t for you, the Ascot racecourse also plays host to fashion shows held at the Bessborough Restaurant, showcasing current season creations from Vivienne Westwood on the catwalk, along with Amanda Wakely, Todd Lynn and Stephen Jones.
