Beauty Makeover | My RMK Summer Story (+ You Can Look Fabulous Too!)

Category: Events & Launches, Featured Post, Make Up, Product Write-Up, Skin Care

I was invited down for a Summer Makeover this afternoon, courtesy of RMK Singapore. Besides their 15th Anniversary color collection, the other objective of today session was the introduction their 6 Step Base Routine targeted at the tropical climate.

SKINCARE – CLEANSE & PREP
First up was an close-up look at their brand new cleansers – Cream & Foamed Soaps. The latter dispenses a dense cushion of lavender-scented foam, definitely the thickest foam I’ve encountered so far! Skin is then prepped with another new product – the re-formulated Skinturner Brightening Light, a toner-cum-moisturizer favorable for the humid weather. Not forgetting the most essential step in any beauty ritual, the highly-raved UV Face Protector (S$48) that’s water-based and packed with a high dosage of SPF 43.

I will dedicate another entry pertaining to the aforementioned products; this intriguing sunscreen brightens the skin, and its high water content will definitely sit well for those with combination skin types.

MAKEUP – BASE
Founder RUMIKO‘s philosophy is about accentuating and enhancing one’s given features. Her makeup line synthesizes the beauty of one’s natural skin hence the omittion of heavy coverage foundation. I opted for a half-matte, half-dewy finish during the session – this customised routine takes away my concerns about extra shine yet gives me a natural glow.

Creamy Polished Base (S$58) is akin to a tinted moisturizer; it refines skin’s surface, veils all uneveniness and imparts a translucent glow. The bruises beneath my eyes are rectified with Control Color N, then further corrected with 2 shades of Super Basic Liquid Concealer.

As a finishing step, my skin is set with Powder Foundation EX (S$105), layered with 2 different textures of powder. I was told that RMK’s powders are manufactured like tofu – its liquid formulation is poured into a mold then set aside for 12 hours ago, followed with the filtering of excess fluid. Although in powder form, the product feels exceptionally creamy and is sectioned with a pearlescent formula to luminize skin.

MAKEUP – COLOR
My brows are defined with Eyebrown Pencil N, then softened with Eyebrow Mascara N.

Here’s an invaluable tip to maximize the curliness of your lashes: Tilt your head at a 45degrees angle, and clamp downwards section by section. My lashes are coated with Separate Curl Mascara that lengthens every single lashes whilst looking doll-like yet natural. My upper lids are lined with Ingenious Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner – a stubborn formula that took ages to remove thoroughly.

In a move out of my comfort zone, I opted for the 15th Anniversary Eye Palette in Gray – it’s a wearable combination nevertheless but I reckon the colors would appear more vibrant if skin is prepped with primer.

15th Anniversary Eye Palette in Brown

For a “kawaii”(using the term loosely) and natural finish, my cheeks were adorned with the 15th Anniversary Cheek Palette in Pink Coral.

Finally! Thy lips are colored with a dusty rose hue (#4), an exclusive shade created for the 15th Anniversary Lip Palette.

As a special treat, RMK Singapore is offering a complimentary makeover to my readers. Simply quote “Joyce September – AtelierBeautydotcom” and you’ll get to try out the celebratory color offerings. This perk is only valid at the Isetan Scotts counter, and you can head down anytime from now till 31st July.

Special thanks to RMK Singapore for your kind hospitality, as well as Huiping for sharing your expertise. Kudos to the counter staff who was extremely detailed in my personalized face chart – just look at the fairy-motif on the blush palette,

RMK is one of my favorite lines; i’ve been using their base makeup for the last 10 years and used to buy the stuff from hong kong / taiwan when it was not yet in Sg, and after it pulled out after a stint.

in fact, all of the RMK products i’ve used from skincare to makeup are all top notch in terms of quality, but they’re sorta underrated (other than the base makeup); their high price points don’t help i guess

it’s a shame they seem to be in a state of confusion trying to revamp their loyalty program in singapore; the counter girl first told me about it in december and persuaded me to redeem my points–but they were still at it in april and are not accepting anymore point accumulation; in the meantime, i’ve spent a good amount there with no loyalty perks. so i’ve decided it’s probably cheaper to buy online at beautybay.com

ooh, I love makeovers. thanks for organising. I dropped by the Isetan Scotts counter a couple of months ago and the SA was really obliging :) RMK has lovely colors but quite pricey :/ surpassing MAquillage which is really the upper limit for me already….
