Peek into any makeup artist’s kit and you’ll find several Laura Mercier staples. Items such as their foundation primers, tinted moisturizers, secret camouflage concealers and translucent powders have gained a loyal following among makeup junkies, and have also garnered high praise from beauty editors of established publications.

The Launch Party, held almost a fortnight ago, was graced by Tayaba Jafri, a makeup artist in her own right, and currently serves as the brand’s Director of International Artistry & Promotions. Besides the obligatory makeup demo, she took the time to introduce the key products, which I have taken notes and will be the focus of this post.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizers SPF20 – S$68
Comprises of 3 variants – the Original, Oil-Free and Illuminating; for Singapore’s climate, Tayaba suggested using the Oil-Free version for that matte finish, and layer with the Illuminating TM on high points of the face to give that radiant glow.
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage – S$46
Undoubtedly the most misapplied product in the world, Tayaba shared that it’s either due to the wrong choice of color or texture – we can use the best coverage but could result in the accentuation of fine lines and wrinkles.
Secret Camouflage is designed to be oil-free to cover blemishes, and offers high coverage that is often used to conceal tattoos for photoshoots. Best utilized with the Secret Camouflage Brush for full control – it is able to pick up and mix the colors for that desired shade for your skin tone, as well as taking away the excess to perfect the canvas without coming off as cakey.
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer – S$38
A more emollient concealer that’s designed for use underneath the eyes, offering the same concentrated coverage.
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder – S$56
Works best with a Velour Puff that doubles the ability to keep makeup on longer. Tayaba recommends the “Push and Roll” action that pulls pigments from primer, foundation and concealer to each other, and push further into the skin with the powder set on top. The translucent powder produces a soft focus effect with a satin finish.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Pen – S$49
While concealers correct color, the Brightening Pen offers a sheer wash of illumination -used before or under concealers- to brighten the eye area.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder – S$38
Designed to set concealer underneath the eyes to boost effects of the Brightening Pen; an extremely translucent finish that illuminates skin without any element of shimmer.
Laura Mercier Secret Finish – S$45
The last step of your makeup routine that rectifies cakey application. Warm the product and pressed over face, it will not break down your makeup but adds a healthy glow that resembles second skin.
Laura Mercier Secret Finish – Mattifying – S$45
Works in the same manner as the Secret Finish; takes away shine and oiliness.
